Panama City, Panama is a city that has everything but yet is missing so much. We have been there several times now and I am amazed that a city that has satellite TV, direct flights to anywhere you want to go, million dollar beach front properties, and a Hooters restaurant (with another on the way, opening Dec. 2008) can be lacking things like clean beaches and a city run bus service. Thanks to years of minimum environmental controls, the waterfront in the city area is so dirty and nasty you will catch cancer if you even think about getting in that water. I was amazed the first time I flew into Panama City and saw miles of beaches that looked like a vast wasteland. There is a huge seperation between the classes so like many Central American cities there are plenty of low income areas that you won't be safe in after dark. Don't get me wrong, yes there is a lot of room for improvement for Panama but there are also a lot of things there to justify a trip. The women are spectacular, the food wonderful, it is U.S. friendly since their economy uses the U.S. Dollar and no travel visas are required, and if you don't mind travelling for an hour or two some nice beaches can be found to go along with their wonderful weather. I have a nice time each time I visit so be sure to check out some photos on the galleries that follow. I saw some amazing architecture in Old Panama, witness some ships passing through the famous Panama Canal, and even got to see the President as his motorcade drove past as we were checking out his private residence. To see the wonderful Hooter Girls we shot down there check out the Hooters section.
